3 civilians injured in Pulwama grenade attack

Pulwama: Three civilians including a non J&K resident were injured in a grenade explosion at Rajpora chowk in southern district of Pulwama.

An official said that suspected militants hurled grenade towards a police vehicle near Shaheed Park that missed the intended target and exploded on the road.

“Three pedestrians were injured in the attack, who were rushed to hospital for treatment,” the official said. He said that the injured were identified as Jitendar Kumar son of Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Bihar, who received right arm injury while as Azhar Khurshid son of Khurshid Ahmad resident of Dalipora, Pulwama was injured in his thigh and head received injury in his thigh and head and were brought to district hospital Pulwama where their condition is stable. The third injured, as per eye-witnesses, received minor injuries and was treated locally.

Police sources said that soon after the attack, entire area was cordoned off and massive searches were launched to nab the attackers.

Suspected militants late evening hurled a grenade towards SOG camp in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, however, it failed to explode, officials said here.

Official sources said that the suspected militants lobbed the grenade towards the SOG camp in Monchwa area of Chadoora, which failed to explode.

Meanwhile, a senior police official said that something was thrown towards SOG camp Monchwa.

He said that BDS team has been dispatched to the area and they will search the area outside the fencing of the camp to check if any explosive substance was lying on the road side. (KNO)
