Srinagar: The frivolous and anonymous complaints have been affecting the work atmosphere in government departments in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha-led administration has made accountability and transparency of the key policies of its governance which has been appreciated by everyone and has encouraged the common masses of having a say in the various government initiatives.

However sources told news agency KINS that there has been an increase in frivolous complaints based on personal grudges in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Most of these complaints are anonymous in nature or made on fictitious individuals’ names and organizations. This has been affecting the work in departments and also decrease the morale of hardworking officials,” officials said.

Though the Government has issued instructions for the disposal of anonymous complaints and also a co-verification of the complaints before seeking the information from the relevant departments /organizations, the same is not being followed, sources said.

“As a result of these anonymous fictitious complaints, it has demoralized officers who in the wake of the anonymous fictitious complaints are suffering from unwanted harassment. These complaints are leading to a “No Work Culture” in the government departments as officers increasingly feel that it is better to do no work then to face harassment of these blackmailers,” sources said.

Sources said that clear instructions have been issued by the government with regards to the anonymous fictitious complaints but out of ignorance a huge government manpower is being used to deal in these such complaints.

“It has been observed that from the LG office to the offices of Advisors to Lt Governor and even administrative department are forwarding these anonymous fictitious complaints to the concerned offices for action and feedback where these should not have been entertained in the first place. The grievance place, the grievance mechanism followed by the current administration is all appreciable but some blackmailers are taking undue advantage of these platforms to unnecessarily harass departments and offices to get their wrong work done besides also extorting money from the officers,” sources added.
