Net banking fraud case: Hi-tech thieves keep Jammu police on tenterhook

Jammu: A group of hi-tech thieves wanted in a net banking fraud case has kept Jammu Police on tenterhooks.

Sources said that teams of Jammu Police are on toes to trace the thieves wanted in net banking fraud worth Rs several lakhs.

“Online and e-banking fraudsters last month managed to steal several lakh rupees from two branches of nationalised banks in Talab Tillo and Hari Market areas of Jammu City,” police sources said.

They said that approximately Rs 35 lakhs were e-transferred by them to their accounts from two banks. They withdrew around Rs 1.5 lakh cash recently from one of the ATMs and managed a gold loan against the remaining money.”

“Police teams from Jammu North and South are on job and with the help of CCTV footage, trying to identify the thieves,” sources said, adding that the accused in one of the CCTV footage were also withdrawing money from an ATM counter in Gandhi Nagar area.

“We are close to cracking this high profile theft case,” a senior police officer said. (UNI)
