Srinagar: National Conference (NC) president and Member of Parliament (MP) Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that his party will take part in Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir whenever it is conducted.
“I don’t know when the Assembly elections will happen in J&K. But, NC will not remain away for the polls. We will fight the elections and win whenever it happens,” Dr Abdullah, who is the former chief minister of J&K, told reporters in Srinagar on Wednesday.
Reiterating his resolve to fight for the restoration of Article 370 and Article 35 A, the NC president said that he is hopeful that they (People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration) will be able to get the special status of J&K back.
Dr Abdullah last week said that his party will emerge as the single largest party if Assembly elections were held in a free and fair manner in Jammu and Kashmir.
The MP from Srinagar had also lashed out at bureaucrats, saying that that they will be made accountable tomorrow for what they have done today. “Today they think of themselves (bureaucrats) as kings… They are not kings, but services of the public. They are there to work for the people. Till the time they learn that they have to work for the people, how will they go in front of God,” Dr Abdullah said. (UNI)
