Schools for classes 6-8 to reopen in Kargil from Sept 1

Kargil: The administration in the border district of Kargil in Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh has ordered reopening of schools for classes 6th to 8th from September Ist following improvement in the COVID-19 situation.

District Magistrate (DM) Kargi, Santosh Sukhadeve in an order said that there had been various representations demanding reopening of the educational institutions in view of the decline in the corona virus positive cases.

He said while allowing government as well as private institutions to open from September 1, the concerned head of the institutions have been asked to ensure that COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) and guidelines issued by the district administration and Chief Education Officer, Kargil are followed in letter and spirit.

Any violation of the orders shall invite action under Section 188 of IPC, Disaster Management Act 2005 and Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, the DM warned.

Earlier, on August 2 schools reopen for the classes from 9th to 12th in the district.

Schools in the Kargil district were closed in April this year due to second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. (UNI)
