Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday met Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar.
Birla is on a visit to UT as a part of Parliamentary outreach programme to strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions.
In a tweet on the official Twitter handle of LG Mr Sinha said, āToday met Honāble Speaker,Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla ji @ombirlakota at Raj Bhavanā.
āI, on behalf of people of Jammu & Kashmir, welcome Honāble Speaker, who is on his visit to the UT as part of the Parliamentary Outreach Programme to Strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutionsā, he further tweeted.
The Parliamentary Outreach Programme for the empowerment of Panchayati Raj institutions is a unique initiative of the Birla, officials said.
A first of its kind program, it is intended to strengthen the institutions of governance and planning at the grass-root level.
