Sonamarg: The Greentech foundation on Thursday honoured Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range K Vijay Kumar with certificate of fellowship.
“Heroes in films are not real heroes but real heroes are amongst you”, Kumar told the audience at the National Meet on Safety and Energy organized by Greentech foundation at Sonamarg in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal.
“We use film Heros as brand ambassadors, but Real heroes are not Reel Heroes. Real Heroes are amongst people. We use celebrities as brand ambassadors to encourage people wear helmets. Instead, we can pick up people among us, in the community, company who are strictly adhering to safety norms and they must be safety ambassadors instead celebrities,” said Kumar.
Kumar was the Chief Guest along with Dharam Pal, IAS, Advisor to Administrator, Chandugarh at the Awards Presentation Ceremony as part of two day National Meet on Safety and Energy currently underway.
He said Police and Doctors deal with human lives. A small mistake may take away lives. So safety is utmost important. Mistakes happen because of three reasons which include– Not having Standard Operating (SOOs) Practices, SOPs are in place but we don’t follow them and third reason s avoiding SOPs intentionally. The SOPs must be updated from time to time, monitored and improved, added the top cop of Kashmir.
The ‘Chalta Hai’ attitude must go, IGP Kumar said. We must use both reward and punishment. Reward for doing good and punishment for doing bad, must be used, he said. (UNI)
