Jammu: Security forces have arrested two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition on their disclosure in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A senior police officer here said that on August 24 it was reliably learnt that two youth namely Ashfaq Qayoom Tak of Passerkot Takpura, Tehsil Chatroo, District Kishtwar and Tousif Giri of Pochhal Tehsil, District Kishtwar were in close contact of the militants of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit from Anantnag, Kashmir.
“The youths were providing information with regard to the security forces to the militants and were also hatching conspiracy to carry out militant acts in Chatroo area,” he said, adding that a case was registered in this regard.
The officer added that accordingly a joint search operation was launched on specific information by Police, Army and CRPF in the forest area of Naid Gam Chatroo on the intervening night of August 25-26 and both the militants were arrested.
“After sustained interrogation, they disclosed that they had hidden some arms and ammunition in the forest area of Pingnal, Chatroo and on their disclosure, security forces on Thursday busted the hideout and recovered arms and ammunition,” said the police officer.
The recovered included one pistol, one pistol magazine, 20 pistol rounds, one Grenade, one empty Ak-47 magazine, two wireless sets, one wireless antenna and three leaves of a letter pad of HM outfit Division Doda.
Further investigation of the case is going on and more arrests are expected in the coming days, he said. (UNI)
