‘Drainage project complete, roads left unattended’
Srinagar: Residents of Noorani Colony, Royal Lane, Saadat Colony and Masjid Aisha Lane Padshahi Bagh Srinagar on Sunday appealed to Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Economic Reconstruction Agency to sanction the macadamization of interior lanes and by lanes of the area.
Residents told Precious Kashmir that the ERA had undertaken a drainage project in the area under the project title “Construction of Storm Water Drainage Scheme Banpora ” with project cost of over Rs 28 crore funded by World Bank. “All the work related to drainage has been completed in the lanes and bylanes. Now the concerned contractor agency Wani-RBIOOL(JV) is saying the project has run over the cost and macadamization will not be possible now for interior lanes but only for the main road,” they said.
“Before the project was started by ERA, the lanes and bylanes were fully macadamized. We request the authorities to restore the road to its earlier condition,” they added.
“We have already apprised the CEO ERA about the situation wer are facing. We have suffered a lot during the construction of the drainage project during the past two years. Now that the winter is round the corner we request the authorities to start the macadamizing the road at the earliest so that we don’t face any difficulty when the weather turns inclement,” residents said.
