Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha condoled the demise of former Uttar Pradesh (UP) chief minister Kalyan Singh who breathed his last on Saturday night.
“Deeply saddened by the demise of Mr Singh who was the voice of underprivileged. He was a popular public figure & an efficient administrator who made immense contributions to nation building. Deepest condolences to the bereaved family, friends, ” the Union Territory (UT) LG wrote on Twitter.
Kalyan Singh passed away on Saturday night in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow.
Singh, 89, was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow since July 4. His condition had started deteriorating since Friday.
A three-day state mourning has been declared in Uttar Pradesh.
