Gurez residents protest against lack of mobile services, road connectivity

Bandipora: People from twin villages of Gurez Sub-Division of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district Monday blocked traffic to protest against the non-availability of the cellular service and road connectivity.

Eyewitnesses said that locals from Purana Tulail and Dangithal villages staged a protest and stopped vehicles near Purana area. They were demanding installation of mobile tower and completion of steel bridge at Dangithal.

They said from past six year the work on steel bridge is going on and yet it has not been completed.

The protesters said that Purana Tulail and Dangithal are the only two villages which are still craving for mobile connectivity.

“Phone connectivity is running all over the country, but our villages still lack this facility due to which the people are facing a lot of problems here,” they said.

The protesters demanded that a mobile tower should be installed so that they can avail the benefits of internet and mobile phones.

Civil and police team headed by Naib Tehsildar rushed to spot and pacified the protesters with the assurance that their demands will be brought into the notice of higher authorities. (KNT)
