DGP sanctions Rs 20 lakhs for celebrating AKAM in J&K

 Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh has sanctioned Rs 20 lakh under Civic Action Programme (CAP) in favour of 50 heads of different units of Jammu and Kashmir for conducting activities in their respective jurisdictions in connection with celebration of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” during the financial year 2021-22.

A police spokesman said this evening that Singh sanctioned Rs 40,000 each in favour of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed Kashmir and Jammu and commandants of seven battalions of JKAP and eight battalions of IRP for organizing the activities and events under the CAP.

The activities and events to be conducted under the “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” included cultural events “Shaheedon Ko Naman”, Covid-19 India’s Response, Sports Festival (Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Tug of War, Kho-Kho), Debates on Indian Freedom Struggle, Cleanliness Drives, Cycle Rallies (in the name of martyrs/national heroes), Painting Competitions, Marathons, Plantation Drives, Homage to martyrs, Screening of movies based on freedom struggle & glory of martyrs, Awareness programmes on constitution/ democracy, Organising of Yoga camps, Awareness on Make in India, organizing disaster management programmes, Arranging visits of students to local wildlife sanctuaries, organizing Tiranga rallies and many other activities/ events.

The DDO’s have been directed to publicize the events through print, electronic media and social media platforms. Some of the Police units have already started the programmes in their respective jurisdictions.

In this regard a detailed calendar of events has been issued for current financial year as also 2022 wherein the 75 programmes, events and activities will be conducted across Jammu and Kashmir.
