2 persons from outside purchased properties in J&K: MHA

Srinagar: Two persons from outside Jammu and Kashmir have purchased two properties in the J&K since 5 August 2019 when Article 370 and Article 35A of the Indian constitution were effectively nullified by the ruling BJP government in centre.

“As per the information provided by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, two persons from outside J&K have purchased two properties in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir since August, 2019,” Minister of State Home, Nityanand Rai said in a written reply.

No further details as regards the nature and measure of the properties so purchased have been given in the reply.

He was responding to the question by parliamentarians Ramalingam S and A. Ganeshamurthi who had sought to know if Union Government has any data about the number of properties that have been sold to people of other States since the removal of Article 370.

To a question whether any hardship/impediments are being faced by the Government and people of other states while buying properties in J&K, the minister said: “No such instance has been reported to the Government.” (GNS)
