Rahul Gandhi arrives in Sgr on 2-day visit to J&K

Srinagar: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi arrived here on Monday evening on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

The Congress leader arrived at Srinagar International Airport, where he was given a warm welcome by party leaders and workers, Congress leaders said. Gandhi, who arrived here for the first time after centre scrapped Article 370 and 35A and bifurcated the Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (UT) on August 5, 2019, will stay at Nehru Guest House, Srinagar.

He will visit Mata Khir Bhawani temple to pay obeisance in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal tomorrow. He is likely to visit Assar-e-Sharief Hazratbal, which houses the holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad on the bank of Dal Lake. Gandhi will inaugurate a new Congress office in the city tomorrow. He will also address Congress leaders and workers, they said. About reports that Gandhi will visit south Kashmir to attend a function of a senior Congress leader, they said he was not aware about such a programme. (UNI)
