After injuring elderly man, bear now attacks wildlife department shooter in Shopian

Shopian: After injuring a man, the wild bear attacked and injured a wildlife shooter in Chetterwach area of South Kashmir’s Shopian on Thursday.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that earlier, the bear had injured a 50-year-old man, identified as Nazir Ahmad Sheikh son of Khazir Mohammed Sheikh in an orchard near Chetterwach area.

He said that as the wildlife department officials were tracking the wild bear in the orchards of Chetterwach and Kadgam, the bear attacked their shooter.

He identified the injured as Irfan Ahmad and said that he has been rushed to district hospital Shopian for treatment.

Meanwhile, wildlife officials have advised the locals to cooperate with them and keep their movement confined to their residences for sometime—(KNO)
