5 residential houses, 2 sheds damaged in Noorbagh blaze

Srinagar: At least five residential houses and two sheds were damaged in a massive fire that erupted in a congested area of Palpora locality of Noorbagh in Srinagar late last night.

Official sources said that the fire broke out from a single—storey residential house in Pamposh Colony of Palpora on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday.

They said that the fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames; however, the fire had spread to nearby structures before it was brought under control.

“Five residential houses and two sheds were damaged in the incident, however, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident, while the cause of fire was being ascertained,” they said.

The houses belong to Ajaz Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Mohi-din Dar, Abdul Rashid Bhat, son of Abdul Rahim Bhat, Ghulam Hassan Peer, son of Ghulam Muhammad Peer, Tariq Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, Ajaz Ahmed Mir, son of Ghulam Qadir Mir, Ghulam Muhammad Sheikh, son of Abdul Ahad Sheikh, Mehraj-ud-din Peer, son of Abdul Ahad Peer.

The cause of fire is short circuit, officials said. (KNO)
