Anantnag: Doctors at Maternity and Child Hospital (MCH) Anantnag here have successfully conducted first-ever laparoscopic surgery. A 26-year-old woman with a complex ovarian cyst was operated at the hospital.
The team of doctors who performed the surgery was led by Dr Syed Nawaz Ahmad. Other doctors who were part of the team to have performed the complex surgery include Dr Masrat, Dr Rehana from Gynaecology side and Dr Asif and Dr Riyaz from Anesthesia.
Laparoscopic facility was provided to the hospital a month ago and this was the first ever laparoscopic surgery to have been conducted at the healthcare facility.
MCH is associated with government medical college Anantnag.
Dr Syed Nawaz, who led the team of surgeons, said that it was a very complex surgery.
“Such cases were usually referred to Srinagar. But now that we had the laparoscopic facility available we decided to do it here only. Thanks God we did it successfully,” Dr Nawaz said.
