Suicide a major Sin

By:  Sanobar Farooq Bhat

In the recent past we have seen a lot of suicide cases especially youngsters falling a prey to the menace of suicide. They end their lives on very little things they don’t know how to deal with the worst situations , they don’t know life is going to be easier but instead of thinking they end  their lives. We need to remindourselves of Allah’s Promise to us, and stick to the Right path. (فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ) After all, with every difficulty, there is relief. There is a matter of concern that why a nation builder commits sucide without thinking about his nation , family and parents ?

There can be several reasons behind this and one of the most visible reasons Certainly being the pandemic, since the pendamic has hit this world ,all men and women were rather compelled to stay in homes which actually has given birth to lot of mental stress. Due to this pendamic students couldn’t go to their schools and colleges or respective universities because of which again there was a mental crises which kept  on piling up and than there was a hope that the coming year will be sufficient enough filled with joy wherein all the previous laggings will be fullfilled but yet again the world was hit with the second wave of covid 19 and that is what actually become the bigger reason for people who already were in depression for the previous year to get into more depression.

As we know the requirements of people are growing day by day whereas the sources from which these requirements can be fulfilled are deminishing day by day which can be the reason for suicide.

Dear all Life itself is a gift from the Creator that we are  obliged  to  care  for. In Islam it is considered as a major sin, which is proved by verses of Holy Quran and Hadith. Prophet (SAW), who is the embodiment of blessings of Allah to humanity, refused to perform the funeral of the one who committed suicide.

It is stated in Quran that: “And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful.”
