COVID: J&K reports one death, 143 fresh cases

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Tuesday witnessed a single death due to Covid-19 while as 143 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 2,435.

With one more death the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,358 and 143 fresh positive cases reported on Tuesday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 318,991.

Of the exact number of 318,991 cases, 198,092 are from Kashmir division and 120,899 from Jammu division. Officials said that among 143 new cases, 82 belong to Kashmir division while as 51 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 198,092 including 194,476 recoveries and 2,231 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 120,899 including 117,722 recoveries and 2,127 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,435 including 1,385 from Kashmir division and 1,050 from Jammu division.

With 416 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 312,198 which is 97.87 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 41 from Srinagar, 17 from Baramulla, 08 from Budgam, 07  from Pulwama, 02 from Kupwara, 06 from Anantnag, 02 from Bandipora, 08 from Ganderbal, 01 from Kulgam and 00 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 51 from Jammu division include 10 from Jammu, 06 from Udhampur, 09 from Rajouri, 03 from Doda, 00 from Kathua, 03 from Samba, 05 from Kishtwar, 07 from Poonch, 08 from Ramban and 00 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Meanwhile, authorities on Tuesday said that no fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and tally stands at 31.

One covid death has been reported from Government Medical College Anantnag.

As per officials figures, 70,737 positive cases including 832 deaths and 69,367 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,424 including 280 deaths and 22,998 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,752 including 22,428  recoveries and 204 deaths are from Budgam, 15,047 including 14,769 recoveries and 193 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,961 including 165 deaths and 13,696 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,252 including 15,934 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,397 cases including 9,223 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,761 including 9,553 recoveries and 77 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,190 including 11,003 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,571 including 5,505 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 52,577 including 51,246 recoveries and 1,138 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,241 including 11,060  recoveries and 132 deaths are from Udhampur, 10,811 including 10,511 recoveries and 222 deaths are from Rajouri, 7,078  including 6,755 recoveries and 121 deaths are from Doda, 9,244 including 9,069 recoveries and 149 deaths are from Kathua, 7,102 including 6,945 recoveries and 119 deaths are from Samba, 4,565 including 4,464 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,192 including 6,002 recoveries and 94 deaths are from Poonch, 5,918 including 5,791 recoveries and 66 deaths are from Ramban and 6,171 including 5,879 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,576,169 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 9,231 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2,435 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 2,284,212 persons have completed surveillance period and 275,933 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 10,727,100 samples are available. Out of 10,727,100 the number of samples tested negative stands at 10,408,109 while as 318,994 have tested positive, among them 2,435 persons are active, 312,198 persons have recovered and 4,358 persons have died.
