COVID-19: Vaccination process picks up pace in Srinagar

Srinagar:  The Covid vaccination process in summer capital Srinagar is picking up pace as around 25 percent of the population has been vaccinated in the first 12 days of this month.

As per the data available with the news agency (KNO), around 58 percent of the people above 45 age group were vaccinated till June end and Srinagar was the worst performer in J&K

However, in the last 12 days, Srinagar district has picked up the pace in the vaccination process and around 25 percent people above 45 were vaccinated in the last 12 days.

Still around 17 percent people are yet to get vaccinated in the district and officials are hopeful that it will be completed in the next few days.

Top health officials said that people in Srinagar were more hesitant in taking vaccination as compared to the people of other districts.

“Now hesitancy is very less due to which the vaccination process has been ramped up and in next few days the population above 45 age will be covered,” an official said.

J&K has already missed two deadlines to vaccinate all above 45 age group.
