Srinagar: A three-year-old girl drowned in a stream in central Kashmir district of Budgam, official sources said here on Sunday.
They said a group of children were taking bath in a stream in village Thez Wudder in Budgam on Sunday. “A girl, identified as Arifa, was pulled into deeper waters while taking a bath on bank of the stream,” they said.
They said other people present at the spot jumped into the waterbody and rescue the minor. “Arifa was immediately taken to a hospital where she was declared brought dead,” they said.
They said after completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her relatives for last rites. “Police has registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident,” they added. (UNI)
