LeT militant arrested in Bandipora: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police along with security forces arrested an active militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit in Bandipora district, officials said on Friday.

“On specific input regarding movement of (militants) in Hajin town, a joint Naka was established by Bandipora Police, 13RR and 45Bn CRPF in Gundjahangeer area of Hajin,” a police spokesman said, “During naka checking, one person was behaving in a very suspicious manner, who was tactfully apprehended by the joint Naka party.”

He has been identified as Muzammil Sheikh alias Abu Maviya of Chandergeer Hajin. “During his personal search, incriminating material, arms & ammunition including one Chinese pistol along with live rounds were recovered from his possession.”

Pertinently, the spokesman said Sheikh had joined outfit LeT recently and “was tasked to carry out subversive activities in and around Hajin town.”

In this regard, he said, Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Hajin and further investigation has been initiated.
