5 killed, as many injured in Ramban road accident

Ramban: At least five persons died while five others were injured in a road accident that took place near Digdole area of Ramban district on Friday evening.

Officials said that a Tata Sumo skidded off the road after it collided with another vehicle, which was coming from the opposite side near Digdole while it was on its way from Ramban to Ramsoo.

They said that the driver of the vehicle lost control and plunged into a gorge, resulting in injuries to five persons while five others died on the spot.

“Acting swiftly on the information, Ramban police along with QRT, UTDRF and Indian Army rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. The injured persons were identified as Khadim Hussain son of Abdul Khadoos, Asmeena daughter of Muneer Hussain, Jeevan Singh son of Shukhdev Singh Naima Bano daughter of Abid Hussan and Sukhdev Singh son of kKrishan—all residents of Ramban,” the officials said.

They said that the injured were admitted in district hospital Ramban, where they are undergoing treatment.

“Five passengers were found dead from the spot whose identity is being ascertained. A case has been registered at Police station Ramban and further investigation has been taken up,” the officials said. (KNO)
