Army fires at two drones spotted in Jammu’s Kaluchak

Srinagar: Jammu Army troops fired at two drones hovering near Military Station in Kaluchak area on the city outskirts, sources said on Monday.

The incident took place just a day after a suspected drone dropped two bombs at the Jammu Air Force Station.

“Two drones (suspected to be quadcopter) were seen flying near Military Station at Kaluchak-Purmandal road that prompted the Army jawans to fire few rounds to target the flying objects,” Army sources said.

They said while the first drone was sighted at around 1130 hrs, the other was seen at around 0135 hrs.

“Some rounds were fired by the troops but it is yet to be known whether they returned or were shot down in the area,” they said.

Laluchak-Purmandal road is located along Jammu-Pathankot national highway. Searches are being carried out.

On Sunday morning, two blasts occurred at Jammu Air Force Station in which the explosive was suspected to be airdropped from the drones leaving two IAF personnel injured and portion of the building damaged in the high security zone.

The teams of National Investigation Agency, Special Forces, Police, Senior IAF officers, reached the spot soon after the attack.

The matter is likely to be handed over to the NIA for probe. (UNI)
