Srinagar: Two women were on Friday killed in separate road accidents in the Kashmir valley, official sources said.
They said a woman was hit and critically injured by a vehicle at Bramri in Kupwara on Friday evening. “The wounded was immediately taken to District Hospital Handwara where she was declared brought dead,” they said.
They said a case has been registered a case and investigation has been taken up. “The identity of the woman is being ascertained,” they added.
In another incident, a vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Tangnar area, resulting in on the spot death of a woman. “The woman, identified as Saima Rasheed, and her family were returning from tourist resort of Doodhpathri in central Kashmir district of Budgam when they stopped for refreshment at Tangnar,” they said.
They said that while other family members were having tea, the woman tried to drive the vehicle. “The woman lost control of the vehicle, which skidded off the road and fell into a gorge,” they said, adding the body of the woman was later retrieved. “After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the woman was handed over to her relatives for last rites,” they added.
