Srinagar: As the administration has started the process of unlocking with the decline in COVID-19 positive cases, the heavy traffic jams have returned on the roads of Srinagar City and its adjoining areas.
The heavy traffic jams were witnessed in many areas in the summer capital especially in the city hub Lalchowk.
Pertinently, Srinagar as well as the others districts of Jammu and Kashmir remained under curfew for more than a month in wake of the steep surge in the positive cases.
The government ordered the imposition of curbs again after the outbreak of second wave of Covid in Jammu and Kashmir. The restrictions were imposed in order to prevent the deadly virus from spreading.
However, as per a local news gathering agency, the Srinagar roads witnessed massive traffic jams today after more than a month.
The drivers and the commuters complained that the vehicles were stuck at Rambagh -Jahangir Chowk for hours.
“However, traffic police were present at roadsides and were performing their duties to ease the traffic mess,” they said.
Traffic jams across the city irked the commuters, waiting to reach their destinations.
Massive traffic jams were also witnessed on different stretches of the city including Rajbagh to Jahangir chowk, Nowgam to Rambagh and Chanapora to Jahangir chowk along on other routes. (KNO)
