Srinagar: A Kashmiri handicraft manufacturing unit, which was being operated from a double storey building in Industrial Estate Zakura in the summer capital, Srinagar, was gutted in a massive fire on Monday.
According to official sources, the fire broke out at a building in Industrial Estate Zakura at around 0100 hrs. Fire tenders from different parts of the district were rushed to douse off the leaping flames, clearly visible from a distance, they said.
However, before the fire was brought under control, the building and the handicraft items, besides some machines, were damaged.
“The cause of the fire was not immediately known,” they said, adding police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.
No injuries were reported in the incident. (UNI)
