Tourism dept starts CBM training for stakeholders

Srinagar: After concluding the special vaccination drive for all the stakeholders associated with the tourism industry, the tourism department in Kashmir is now planning to start the Capacity Building Measure (CBM) programs for the tourism players.

The department has roped in the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) and other agencies to calibrate with the stakeholders to make the programme successful.

Officials confirmed to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) after the culmination of special Covid vaccine drive for the stakeholders associated with the tourism industry, in which around 9000 stakeholders were inoculated, the department is planning to start a capacity building program for the stakeholders.

“Dealing with tourism activities will be different now from the normal. After vaccination drive, which gives a sense of comfort to a visitor, the purpose of the program is to calibrate the frontline and back end staff amid Covid how to go with the SOPs and guidelines,” an official said.

“The department has roped in the Institute of Hotel Management and other agencies for the capacity building module. As and when the Covid situation stabilises in the valley and in other parts of the country, men and machinery should be ready,” he said.

After the second wave of Covid-19 engulfed the valley along with the other parts of the country, the tourism activities have come to a grinding halt.  According to the officials, the figures have sharply fallen down with negligible occupancy of tourists in hotels and houseboats in the valley—(KNO)
