Black fungus declared a pandemic in Bihar : Mangal

Patna: Bihar government has declared black fungus (Mucormycosis) as pandemic in the state.
Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey today said that following directions of the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar , black fungus has been declared as notified disease under pandemic act.
According to the notification issued in this connection the infection of mucormycosis was spreading fast and large number of cases were being reported currently.
Mr Pandey said that according to the directives issued by the health department it has been made mandatory for private and government health institutions to report about the case through civil surgeon.
He said that all private and government health centres will have to follow the guidelines of the centre and the state issued in this connection.
He said that action would be initiated against institution if found violating the guidelines.
He said that 6000 viol of amphotericin medicine essential for treatment of black fungus have been provided to the Medical College Hospital and various private hospitals which would be administered free of cost to the patients.
Mr Pandey said that the state government was seriously taking efforts to fight against covid-19 and black fungus pandemic .
