COVID tally soars, 59 die, 4141 test positive in J&K

Srinagar: Amid the lockdown imposed by the government, the deadly pandemic is tightening its grip across Jammu and Kashmir as the tally continues to soar in the Union Territory with the government informing that over 4000 people have tested positive in the last 24 hours.

The figures shared by the government also mentioned that a total of 59 persons who were tested positive for the virus have also lost their lives in different areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

The government informed that 4141 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 1690 from Jammu division and 2451 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 244608. Also, 59 COVID-19 deaths have been reported,31 from Jammu Division and 28 from Kashmir Division.

Moreover, 3934 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 1185 from Jammu Division and 2749 from Kashmir Division.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 244608 positive cases, 51623 are Active Positive, 189836 have recovered and 3149 have died; 1439in Jammu division and 1710 in Kashmir division.

The bulletin further said that out of 7921228 test results available, 7921228 samples have been tested as negative till 16thMay, 2021.

Till date 1965811 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 74816 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 51623 in isolation and 119230in home surveillance. Besides, 1716993 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 58030 positive cases (including 831 cases reported today) with 8425 Active Positive, 48923recovered (including 1269cases recovered today), 682 deaths; Baramulla has 18038 positive cases (including 252 cases reported today)with 3440Active Positive, 14376recovered (including 332 cases recovered today), 222 deaths; Budgam reported 16022 positive cases (including320 cases reported today)with 3994 active positive cases, 11876 recovered (including 351cases recovered today), 152 deaths; Pulwama has 10742 positive cases (including 177 cases reported today)with2642Active Positive, 7962recovered (including 141 cases recovered today)and 138 deaths; Kupwara has 9372 positive cases (including 148 cases reported today), 1813 Active Positive, 7439recoveries (including 116 cases recovered today), 120 deaths;  Anantnag district has 11547 positive cases (including 199 cases reported today)with 4076 Active Positive, 7335recovered (including 204 cases recovered today), 136 deaths;  Bandipora has 6953 positive cases (including89 cases reported today), with897Active Positive and 5982 recoveries (including 65 cases recovered today),74 deaths; Ganderbal has 6968 positive cases (including 152cases reported today)with 1136Active Positive, 5770 recoveries (including 91 cases recovered today)and62deaths; Kulgam has 7760 positive cases (including 228 cases reported today)with 3435 Active Positive, 4245recoveries (including180 cases recovered today)and 80 deaths while as Shopian has 4481 positive cases (including 55 cases reported today),1331active positive cases, 3106 recoveriesand44 deaths.

Similarly, Jammu has 44222 positive cases (including 625 cases reported today) with 7915 active positive cases, 35489recoveries (including 578 cases recovered today), 818 deaths; Udhampur has 8842 positive cases (including 192cases reported today), 1561active positive cases, 70187 recoveries (including158 cases recovered today)and94 deaths; Rajouri has 8076 positive cases (including 237 cases reported today)with 3417active positive, 4533recoveries (including 81 cases recovered today)and 126deaths; Doda has 4682 positive cases (including 77cases reported today)with 872 Active positive, 3736 recovered (including 35 cases recovered today)and 74 deaths; Kathua has 7290 positive cases (including 186 cases reported today), 1508 active positive cases, 5687recovered(including 213cases recovered today) and 95deaths; Kishtwar has 3536 positive cases (including 41 cases reported today)with 382 Active Positive, 3128 recoveriesand26 deaths; Samba has 5647 positive cases (including 145 cases reported today)with 2038 active positive cases, 3526 recoveries (including 53 cases recovered today)and 83 deaths; Poonch has 4227 positive cases (including 106 cases reported today)with 1241 active positive, 2926recoveries (including 01 cases recovered today)and 60 deaths; Rambanhas 3686 positive cases (including 65 cases reported today)with794 active positive cases, 2851 recoveriesand 41 deaths while Reasi has 4487 positive (including 16 cases reported today)with 706 active positive cases, 3759 recoveries (including66 cases recovered today)and 22 deaths.

According to the bulletin, among the total 244608 positive cases in J&K, 20925have been reported as travelers while 223683 as others.

The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.

The bulletin added that there are 2547 COVID dedicated beds, 2286 Isolation beds with 832vacant beds and 261 ICU beds where 78 beds are vacant in Jammu division while there are 2853 COVID dedicated beds, 2720 Isolation beds where 1082 beds are vacant and 133 ICU beds where 74are vacant beds in Kashmir division. There are a total of 5400 COVID dedicated beds, 5006 Isolation beds with 1914 beds vacant and 394 ICU beds with 152vacant beds in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
