Govt extends Corona Curfew in J&K till May 24

Srinagar: In a bid to prevent the Coronavirus from spreading, the government on Saturday extended the Corona Curfew across Jammu and Kashmir till May 24, 2021.

Corona Curfew was last extended by the government on May 09, 2021 till May 17, 2021 in all the 20 districts of J&K, where 3677 new positive cases and 63 deaths have been reported during the past 24 hours, an official spokesman said Saturday evening.

He said Corona curfew, which was imposed in all the 20 districts in the UT in view of the surge in the COVID positive cases and deaths, has been extended till 0700 hrs on May 24. The restrictions were to end on Monday at 0700 hrs, he said.

The curfew restrictions will be strict except for a few essential services, he said.

Meanwhile, 3677 new positive cases have been reported during the past 24 hours. Out of these 1728 are from Jammu Division and 1949 from Kashmir Division.

However, 4140 more COVID-19 patients have recovered, 1086 from Jammu Division and 3054 from Kashmir Division, he said.

Also, 63 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 37 from Jammu Division and 26 from Kashmir Division during this period, he added.

Srinagar again witnessed surge in the positive cases. As against over 300 yesterday, it was over 400 on Saturday.
