Over 27 lakh people vaccinated in JK

Srinagar: Over 27 lakh people have been vaccinated in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, official figures revealed Wednesday.

Figures suggest that 27,59,121 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in J&K so far.

ā€œ22,44,259 beneficiariesĀ  have been given the first dose, while as the second dose has been given to 5,14,862 people,ā€ the figures state.

Notably Jammu and Kashmir is ramping up capacity to administer three lakh Covid vaccine doses per day and store 50 lakh in cold chain.

Pertinently, the Phase-I of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Strategy was launched on 16th January 2021, and in the first phase of vaccination Health Care Workers and Front Line Workers were inoculated, after which Phase-II was initiated from March 1 and April 1

ā€œThe drive was focused on vaccinating the people above 45 years of age while May1 , National Covid-19 Vaccination Strategy came in effect under which COVID-19 Vaccination was opened for persons 18-44 years of age groups,ā€ an official in the Union Ministry of Health said.

He said that under the fresh guidelines issued by the Health Ministry, in all these phases, it has been prescribed that the beneficiary must either self-register or be registered in Co-WIN portal and that the identity and eligibility of the beneficiary be verified by vaccinator through Photo ID Proof, prior to the vaccination, which should be Aadhar Card, Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) Voter ID, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, NPR Smart Card or Pension Document with photograph.

Pertinently J&Kā€™s Lieutenant Governorā€™s Advisor Baseer Ahmad Khan, on 29 April of last month, while addressing a Press Conference atĀ  DIPR auditorium said,Ā  Jammu and Kashmir had placed an order of 1.25 crore doses of vaccines and aggressive drive will be launched in this regardā€”(KNO)
