Covid-19 Pandemic: JK records highest daily spike of 3532 cases, 30 deaths

Srinagar:  Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday recorded highest single day spike of 3532 Covid-19 cases. Besides, J&K also reported 30 deaths – 17 in Jammu and 13 in Kashmir.

According to officials, J&K today recorded 3532 Covid cases, which is the highest single day spike of cases in J&K ever since outbreak of Covid-19 last year. Of the new cases, 1172 were reported from Jammu region and 2360 from Kashmir. The total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir has risen to 176083.

Providing the district wise details of fresh cash today,  the officials said Srinagar reported Srinagar 932, Baramulla 316, Budgam 160, Pulwama 110, Kupwara 206, Anantnag 239, Bandipora 50, Ganderbal 77, Kulgam 165, Shopian  105, Jammu 495, Udhampur 125, Rajouri 133, Doda 37, Kathua 95, Samba 82, Kishtwar 13, Poonch 42, Ramban 74 and Reasi 76.

J&K also reported 30 deaths today — 17 from Jammu Division and 13 from Kashmir Division. It has taken the total death toll due to Covid in J&K  to 2283—889 in Jammu and 1394 in the Valley.

Among the victims include two women, aged 25-years and 27-years respectively.

A senior official told GNS that among the deaths reported in Jammu, mostly died at GMC Jammu while two others were brought dead and tested positive posthumously. “Of the two persons brought dead was a 27-year-old woman,” the official said.

Among others, the victims from Valley include a 25-year-old woman from Shankarpora  Anantnag who died at SKIMS Soura here, two days after she was admitted to the tertiary care hospital, the officials said here.

The others include a 54-year-old woman from Eidgah Srinagar died at SMHS hospital, a 45-year-old man from Batmaloo also died at SMHS hospital, a 65-year-old man from Shivpora Srinagar , a 65-year-old man Bagh-e-Mehtab Srinagar , a 70-year-old man from Rangwar Baramulla , a 95-year-old man from Rajbagh Srinagar, a 65-year-old woman from Bagh-e-Mehtab Srinagar who died at CD hospital, a 60-year-old man from Natipora Srinagar and a 55-year-old man from Bogund Kulgam.

Moreover, 1287 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 310 from Jammu Division and 977 from Kashmir Division.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 176083 positive cases, 28359 are Active Positive, 145441 have recovered and 2283have died; 889in Jammu division and 1394 in Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 7268521test results available, 7092438 samples have been tested as negative till April 30.

Till date 1807565 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 95113 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 28359 in isolation and 1560440in home surveillance.

Besides, 1560440 persons have completed their surveillance period.
