Police arrest 11 drug peddlers, recovered heroin, charas in Kashmir

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested eleven drug peddlers, including a Special Police Officer (SPO) and recovered charas and other drugs in the Kashmir valley during the past 24 hours.

A police spokesman said on Tuesday that police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 42 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and 130 grams of charas like substance from their possession at Yaripora in Kulgam today.

He said case Fir number 21/2021 U/S 8/21,22 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Yaripora and further investigation initiated.

Spokesman said police had established a naka at Batpora Kunzar on Srinagar-Gulmarg road during which a vehicle was intercepted.

He said during the search of the vehicle police recovered 350 grams of charas like substance. All the four person identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Malik, Noor Mohammad Malik , Abid Khaliq Malik and Nasir Ahmad Bhat, SPO all resident of Khag were arrested. The vehicle has been seized, he said .

A case under sections of NDPS Act registered in Police Station Kunzer and investigation taken up.

He said police during a naka checking at Adina crossing signaled a person to stop who tried to escape from the spot. However, he was chased and arrested, spokesman said adding later 150 grams of charas and Rs 15500, apparently sale proceeds of sale of drugs were recovered from his possession.

He has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 63/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Magam and investigation was taken up.

Spokesman said during the naka checking at Mohura bridge in Baramulla police arrested one Mohammad Sajad Badan Khan, resident of Dachi Uri and recovered 121 grams of heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in P/S Uri and further investigation is in progress.

In Handwara, police during a naka checking at Manzgam Bridge intercepted a person identified as Fareed Ahmad Bhat resident of Tumna. During checking, police recovered 10 grams of Heroin from his possession.

The accused was going to sell the drugs among youth of upper Hafrada especially among college going children of the area. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 30/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Vilgam and investigation has been taken up.
