Central Waqf Council member, ex Deputy LC Chairman, delegations call on Lt Governor

Jammu:  Member, Central Waqf Council and Chairperson, Waqf Development Committee, Union Ministry of Minority Affairs, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.

Andrabi discussed with the Lt Governor about various issues of public welfare and important matters concerning the working of the Waqf Board. She also shared her views about the prevailing development scenario in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lt Governor advised Andrabi to take requisite measures for continuous improvement in the working of the Board. He further urged her to continue working for the welfare of the people.

Similarly, former Deputy Chairman, J&K Legislative Council and former Legislator Javed Ahmad Rana apprised Lt Governor about various important development issues of Mendhar area including construction of two bridges in Mendhar Town, Mini Secretariat and Trauma Centre in the Sub Division; establishment of District Headquarters of Mission Youth at Mendhar; adoption of Chhungan and Kalaban villages under Tribal village Scheme; strengthening of road connectivity; upgradation of schools; augmenting the numbers of ATMs in the area, and construction of outdoor stadium at Bhatidar, Mendhar.

The Lt Governor, while interacting with the former Legislator observed that the UT Government is cognizant of all the concerns of the people of border areas and will deal with all their issues with utmost sensitivity and priority. He assured the former Legislator that the issues put forth by him would be looked into earnestly for their redressal on merit.

Meanwhile, a delegation of DDC members from Ramban called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan here.

The delegation led by DDC Chairperson, Dr. Shamshad Shan submitted a memorandum of issues and demands to the Lt Governor pertaining to strengthening of road connectivity and power infrastructure in Ramban, establishment of drug rehabilitation centre to curb drug menace, rationalization of teachers and lecturers in Education sector, addressing the shortage of medical staff, besides creation of auditorium and stadium, Industrial estate  and exploring the tremendous tourist potential in the district.

The Lt Governor while interacting with the members of the delegation observed that steps have already been initiated to improve infrastructure in various sectors including Education, Industry and Healthcare Sector , the results of which are visible on the ground.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Jammu & Kashmir Nationalist’s People Front led by Sheikh Muzaffar met the Lt Governor and apprised him of various issues of public importance including augmenting irrigation facilities and  power supply, besides strengthening the internal road connectivity in districts.

The Lt Governor observed that the Government is taking comprehensive measures to ensure equitable and balanced development in all areas of Jammu and Kashmir. He assured the members of the delegation that all their genuine issues would be looked into for their early redressal.
