Srinagar: Police on Tuesday filed a case against two consultancies in north Kashmir district of Baramulla for duping eight youth on the pretext of providing them jobs in Malaysia.
Official sources said that two consultancies — ‘Krishna Placement Consultancy’ run by Popinder Singh in Jammu and ‘Advisory Consultancy’ run by Shoaib Rahi in Pattan – had received Rs 6.4 lakh from eight youth (Rs 80,000 each) with the promise that they will provide them job in Malaysia.
However, they said after joining the private companies in Malaysia, the youth were shortly sacked with the employers telling them that they had tourist visas and were not permitted to work.
They said the youth approached Judicial Magistrate Pattan, seeking an FIR against the accused. “After hearing the petitioners, the court forwarded the complaint to Police Station Pattan on March 26 and directed it to register an FIR against the accused,” they said.
They said accordingly Police Station Pattan registered a case under section 420 IPC for cheating unemployed youths of different areas of Baramulla.
“Further investigation has been taken up in the case,” they added.
