3 ex-legislators join PC

Srinagar:  Former minister Syed Basharat Bukhari and ex-legislators Peer Mansoor Hussain and Khursheed Alam on Monday joined Peoples Conference (PC).

The trio joined the PC in presence of party Chairman Sajad Gani Lone and other top leaders of the party.

Bukhari, who was a minister in the PDP-BJP ministry resigned from the PDP and joined National Conference (NC). Now he joined PC.

Hussain and Alam too were senior leaders of PDP before resigning from the party recently.

Welcoming Bukhari, Hussain, and Alam into the party fold, Sajad said that PC will immensely benefit from their experience in politics and public life.

“I wholeheartedly welcome these leaders into the PC. They are experienced and mass-based politicians who will, in the coming decades, play a pivotal role and contribute to the politics and welfare of J&K. Their political acumen and experience will immensely benefit the party. I am hopeful that these leaders will continue to work for the cause of people and help navigate them through these extraordinary and troubled times”, he said.

On the occasion, these leaders maintained that “sincerity of thought of the PC chairman Sajad Lone, the history of service and sacrifice of the party obliged them to join the party”. They vowed to take forward the founding mission and objectives of PC and work for the welfare of the people of J&K.

“It is a matter of satisfaction that the PC is emerging as a strong political force in J&K. I will work alongside the party’s rank and file in ensuring that the party’s flag flies high across all regions of J&K,” he said.
