Incessant Downpour: 7 shops collapse in Central Kashmir’s Charar-e-Sharif

Budgam: Atleast seven shops including a hotel collapsed due to heavy midnight rainfall in Charar-e-sharif town of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Official sources told KNT that shops collapsed due to land erosion. The town has been witnessing incessant downpour for the past one week. This has resulted in land erosion.

Sources added that a building comprising shops has collapsed in Gulshanabad area of the town. The property is owned by a local mosque . The shops which have suffered damage are owned by Ghulam Jeelani Dar, Arshid Hussain Wani, Ghulam Muhammad Sheikh, Mushtaq Ahmad Akhoon, Muhammad Qasim and Gowhar Ahmad Shah.

Officials said that no loss of life was reported while civil and police officials have rushed to spot to asses the situation.

Pertaintly Kashmir valley has received a good rainfall from past couple of weeks. (KNT)
