Violators to be fined with Rs 500
Shopian: Wearing of masks at public places has been made compulsory in South Kashmir’s Shopian district to minimize the chances of further spread of Covid-19 while violators can be fined with Rs 500.
An order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the usage of masks has been made mandatory in view of the recent spike in Covid-19 positive cases across the country.
The order was issued under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 by district magistrate Shopian.
The orders states that all the Executive Magistrates, BDOs, District/Sectoral officers are hereby directed to ensure the usage of masks in their respective jurisdictions and in case of any person found without wearing mask at public places, a fine of Rs 500 be imposed to violators and the same shall be credited in the official account No.SBG-49 of Chairman, District Red Cross Society, Shopian under proper receipt.
“Further all District/ Sectoral Officers shall ensure usage of masks in the offices working under their control.”
It further states that the imposition of fine and its deposition in the above mentioned account be submitted on weekly basis and the Sr. Superintendent of Police, Shopian, Additional District Magistrate and Sub Divisional Magistrate, Zainapora shall personally monitor the exercise within their jurisdiction through field inspection on a routine basis.
