Snow-bikes new attraction for tourists in Gulmarg

Gulmarg: After the first snow Igloo attracted many tourists to the world-famous ski-resort Gulmarg in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, snow motorbikes are now proving to be very instrumental and a source of the main attraction for the visitors.

The motorbikes are also serving as a major source of income with people expressing satisfaction over the addition to enjoy the snow.

Gulmarg witness a huge rush of non-local and foreign tourists during winter, to enjoy the snowfall and Gandola ride.

While appreciating the beauty of Gulmarg and their experience of riding snow bikes several tourists said there are no words to describe the beauty of Kashmir.

“The weather is very pleasant and everything here is very attractive. It makes one fall in love with the place,” tourist Versha Mehra said.

Motivating people who have a different opinion about the Kashmir Valley, Robin Rawat a tourist, said that the place is truly a heaven.

“I was not expecting this amount of joy and pleasure. I enjoyed riding a snow bike,” Robin said.  “I have visited here over a year ago and explored different places but Gulmarg is an exception.”

People associated with the snow bikes said it is proving to be very instrumental in attracting tourists and besides being used for rescue operations whenever a need arises.

“In the recently concluded week-long Khelo India games the bikes were used for sports activities,” they said.

“This is now a major source of income for native people. We have a separate association of snow bikers and at present, there is no exact figure about the people associated with it since all are working at different spots like phase-1 Gandola, Ski-spot and other,” they said. “There is also a special discount for the specially-abled people and children visiting in groups for sightseeing”—(KNO)
