Bring changes in precedence list: Cong to Govt

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Wednesday termed the government’s order of placing DDC chairmen, vice-chairmen and members at bottom of precedence list as unfortunate and betrayal with the elected representatives in J&K.

In a statement, JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir lashed out at BJP Govt for miserably failing to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institution, saying that the untruthful slogan and promises with regard to empowering democratic institutions has once again exposed the mindset of BJP Govt.

He urged the government to make immediate necessary changes in the precedence list, ensuring that DDC chairmen, vice-chairmen and members exercise their authority for which they have been chosen and authorized to work for the welfare of people.

“We are committed   strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) at all levels,” Mir said, adding that the government must stop undermining the authority DDCs and other democratic institutions, in the larger interest of common people.

“The precedence list issued by the Govt amounts to undermine the authority of vital institution (DDCs) of public importance, which deserves to be rectified, very immediately,” Mir addd.
