Army rules out ceasefire violation

Srinagar: Army on Monday ruled out ceasefire violation as the cause of death of a soldier, whose body was found with a bullet wound at a forward post in Keran sector in north Kashmir district of Kupwara.

An Army spokesperson on Monday evening said that Gunner Trived Prakash, who was posted at Kachhal, Keran Sector, Kupwara, was found dead due to fire from (his) service weapon at sentry post on Sunday.

He further clarified that the fatal injury ‘did not occur due to any ceasefire violations, as is being reported in some sections of the media’.

Official sources said that preliminary investigation indicate that the soldier allegedly committed suicide by shooting self.

”A case has been registered and investigation taken up into the incident,” they added.
