Time to get rid of Rohingya refugees: BJP

Jammu: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta Sunday said India could no longer tolerate further stay of illegal immigrants from Myanmar as it has already suffered a lot due to presence of Rohingya refugees on its soil especially in J&K.

Citing the detention of over 150 Rohingyas in Jammu on Saturday, he said there is no surprise element in the action against these foreign immigrants who entered India illegally. “It was always on agenda of BJP and soon people will see their deportation.”

“This community was living in J&K illegally under patronage of a particular political party’s leadership, which has a track record of securing vote bank by way of appeasement policy although some other regional parties,” he said and admitted that action by the government against Rohingyas got delayed due to certain reasons but now things have been accelerated and the days of Rohingyas in J&K are numbered.

“In 2018, we started counting their numbers but when BJP came back to power in 2019 there were certain inadvertent delays but since it has become a ‘universal truth’ that whatever BJP promises to accomplish has to see the day of light be it abrogation of Art 370, restoring peace in Valley or Ram temple in Ayodhya therefore Rohingyas’ departure is also inevitable,” Gupta said.

The BJP leader said time has come to get rid of Rohingyas from J&K as was promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
