Govt directs Deptts to issue notifications under Aadhaar Act for 17 schemes

Srinagar: The administration has directed departments to issue notifications under Aadhaar Act for 17 schemes, which are funded out of consolidated fund of the UT.
The directive has been issued by the Information Technology (IT) department to eight departments implementing these schemes.
“As of now, 17 schemes pertaining to eight departments have been identified out of consolidated fund of the UT as per the DBT portal of Jammu & Kashmir. Accordingly, it is impressed upon all the concerned departments to take necessary steps to issue notifications under section 7 of the Aadhaar Act 2017 of their specific schemes which are funded out of the consolidated fund of India/UT,” reads the circular, a copy of which is in possession of Precious Kashmir.
The directive has been issued as the Aadhar and other laws (Amendment) Act, 2019, mandate use of Aadhaar authentication for beneficiaries under Section 7 law 2016 in those schemes which are funded out of consolidated fund of the State.
The use of Aadhaar as identity document for delivery of services or benefits or subsidies simplifies the government delivery processes, brings in transparency and efficiency, and enables beneficiaries to get their entitlements directly in a convenient and seamless manner by obviating the need to produce multiple documents to prove one’s identity.
Of those schemes for which notifications, five are implemented by the Horticulture department, three each by departments of Education and Labour & Employment, two by Social Welfare department and one each by departments of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs,  Tribal Affairs, Tourism and Youth Services.
