Body of missing woman recovered after a month in Pulwama

Srinagar: Body of a 26-year-old woman, who was missing for the past one month, was fished out from river Jehlum in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Thursday, official sources said.

They said panic gripped in Khanbagh area in Pampore in south Kashmir when a body was seen floating in river Jehlum this afternoon.

The body was retrieved and taken away by police for identification. The cause of her death was being ascertained.

Later the deceased was identified as Rukhsana Akhtar who went missing from her house at Sharshali Pampore on January 18.

Police has already registered a missing report lodged by her family members.

Official sources said the  body will be handed over to her family member after completing medical and legal formalities.
