Complete legal formalities: Govt directs unions, associations, societies

Warns of action if updation of information not completed till March 31

Srinagar: The government on Wednesday asked the registered Union, associations and societies with them to complete all the necessary legal formalities and update all information connected thereto by or before March 31, 2020.

Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi in a circular under number 07-JK(GAD) of 2021, dated 10-02-2021, said that action will be initiated against those who will fail to update information about their respective Unions, association and societies  defaulters shall be initiated.

“While examining record in respect of Associations/ Unions/Societies registered with various Departments, it has been observed that a large number of these bodies are not complying to the regulatory regime governing their operations. Most of these bodies have not renewed their registrations/have not conducted elections to various office bearer posts or have not furnished the updated information pertaining to maintenance of accounts/source of funding alongwith audit details etc. This has been viewed seriously by the Authorities,” the circular reads.

“Accordingly, it is impressed upon all the office bearers of such bodies to immediately complete all the necessary legal formalities in respect of their Associations/Unions/Societies with the concerned Registrars and update all information connected thereto by or before 31e of March, 2021, failing which appropriate action against defaulters shall be initiated,” it added.

According to the circular, there are 582 unions, associations and societies registered with the government. Of 582, 446 are in Kashmir division while 136 are in Jammu division of Union Territory of J&K. (KNO)
