Family suspects murder; police registers FIR, starts investigation

Budgam: A 12-year-old boy, who was missing since last six days, was found dead on Tuesday morning in an orchard at Daharmuna, Soibugh  in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, sending shock waves across the district.

The body of a boy was spotted by some locals in apple orchards early morning and accordingly they informed the police.

A police officer said a team rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

The boy was identified as Shahid Farooq, 12, son of Farooq Ahmad Malik, a resident of Soibugh, Budgam.

He said that family members had lodged a missing report.

“However, today morning the body of the boy was found by the locals near his house in Soibugh, Budgam,” the officer said adding that an FIR has been registered and investigations have been started on fast-track basis.

The family members of the deceased have demanded thorough investigation into the boy’s death, adding that “he has been hanged to death and it was a murder.”

“We already searched the place where our son was founded hanging. This is murder and needs to be probed. We demand a thorough probe into our son’s death,” a family member demanded.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on the entire Soibugh area after the body of the young boy reached home with women beating their chest amid cries and shrieks.

An official said that the post mortem report will reveal the cause of his death. “Post mortem have been conducted, we have to wait for the report,” he said, wishing not to be named—(KNO)
