IGP visits Handwara, reviews security situation

Srinagar: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar Wednesday visited north Kashmir’s District Baramulla and Police Division Handwara to review the security scenario, anti-militancy operation and other crime works.

The IGP was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir Range (NKR) Muhammad Suleman Chaudhary.

During his visit, the IGP held meetings with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Kupwara, Handwara and Sopore and discussed different security measures taken for the maintenance of overall peace in their respective areas.

All four District SSsP briefed the IGP about current situation in their respective areas including anti-militancy operations, maintenance of law & order and investigation progress of the cases.

IGP Kashmir urged upon the officers to strengthen the general security grid of their respective areas to ensure peace. He directed the officers to take stringent action against the elements trying to disrupt the peace and order in Valley.

He also urged the officers to speedily investigate the cases in a professional manner for their logical conclusion.

IGP also reviewed action plan & preparedness for summer and instructed the SSsP to keep vigil on anti-national elements besides keeping focus on anti-narcotics & generating specific intelligences and conducting anti-militancy operations along with forces.
