Unfurls tricolor in Jammu, hosts “At Home” Precious Kashmir News
Jammu, Jan 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that the government led by him is aiming to provide employment opportunities to 80 per cent of the youth over the next five years.
In his Republic Day speech here, LG Sinha said, “The government is in talks with the leading companies of the country to provide employment opportunities with skill development and soon, concrete results will be visible. Our aim is to provide employment opportunities to 80 per cent of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir in the next five years”.
The LG also mentioned the government, in collaboration with the Tata Group, has initiated a state-of-the-art skill development centre in Baramulla, while adding that a similar type of centre will be made functional in Jammu by February this year.
“The process of filling up 25,000 vacancies in the government is also going on at a rapid pace,” he added.
He also hailed the successful conduction of local body polls in the Union Territory.
“For a long time, the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir were denied grassroots democracy. We have been successful in conducting a violence-free, free and fair elections to District Development Councils (DDC). The high turnout of voters broke the records of many previous elections. I specially congratulate the enlightened citizens, Central Security Forces, Army, Police and Administrative officials for this,” he further said.
Sinha said, “We want to assure all citizens that the political conspiracies and nefarious designs of a neighbouring country will never be allowed to succeed in this land of great people and warriors. The security agencies have effectively controlled violence and those who are trying to fulfil their political motives with the help of this proxy war, are being given a befitting reply,” he remarked.
Praising the administration’s efforts to bring industries in the region, he said, “At the beginning of this year, we have announced a New Industrial Development Scheme 2021 amounting to Rs 28,400 crores to attract the country’s major industries and investment in Jammu and Kashmir and expand existing industries. This scheme, which will continue till 2037, will take industrial investment to the block level so that the goal of equal, balanced and sustainable economic development can be achieved”.
Earlier, LG Sinha hoisted the National Flag at Maulana Azad Stadium here on the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day.
The Lt Governor inspected the parade and took the salute at an impressive march past.
Motorcycle Acrobatics displayed by J&K Police, besides Youth displaying various musical performances, cultural and sports activities were the main attractions of the programme. Scores of students from various schools presenting a cultural spectacle based on national integration and the glorious composite heritage of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir marked the day.
The smart contingents from Army, BSF, CRPF,SSB, women contingents of the JKAP, JKAP/IRP, J&K Police, Disaster Response Force, J&K Fire and Emergency Services, J&K Forest Protection Force, Excise Department, ex-Servicemen, NCC Boys and Girls, Bharat Scouts and Guides (Girls & Boys) , Boys and Girls from various schools and Bands of Army, BSF, J&K Police, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police and scores of Boys and Girls Schools participated in the Parade.
Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor laid wreath at Police Martyrs Memorial and Balidan Stambh. He paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the honour of the country. “We are eternally indebted to our men in uniform for their supreme sacrifices towards ensuring integrity and sovereignty of India”, said the Lt Governor.
Besides the First Lady, the colourful celebrations of Republic Day filled with patriotic ethos was witnessed by Chief Justice Jammu and Kashmir High Court; State Election Commissioner; Advisors to the Lt Governor; Judges of the J&K High Court; Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation; Members of Parliament; Chief Secretary; DGP; elected representatives of ULBs and PRIs; former Legislators; senior Civil, Police and Army officers; political and social activists; prominent citizens from all walks of life; media persons and the citizenry.
LG hosts Republic Day ‘At Home’
Celebrating the 72nd Republic Day, the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha later in the afternoon hosted ‘At Home’ at the Lawns of Raj Bhavan, Jammu.
The Lt Governor interacted with the invitees and exchanged Republic Day greetings with them.
Among those who attended the ‘At Home’ were State Election Commissioner; Advisors to the Lt Governor; Judges of the J&K High Court; Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation; Members of Parliament; Chief Secretary; Vice Chancellors; DGP; elected representatives of ULBs and PRIs; former Legislators; serving and retired senior Civil, Police, Central Armed Police Force, Army and Air Force officers; Republic Day Parade Commanders; ex-Servicemen, outstanding achievers in various arenas, leaders of various social and political organizations and media persons. War-widows were the special invitees for ‘At Home’.
