LG Sinha to head Export Promotion Board

‘Board to select, manage areas to be declared as Export Promotion Hubs’

Srinagar, Jan 21: The government has constituted Export Promotion Board (EPB) led by Lieutenant Governor to select and manage the areas to be declared as Export Promotion Hubs in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The board headed by LG comprises of his three Advisors, Chief Secretary, Administrative Secretary, Finance Department, Administrative Secretary, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department, Administrative Secretary, Horticulture department, Administrative Secretary, Department of Mining, Administrative Secretary, Floriculture Department, Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu/Kashmir, Director General, Foreign Trade (DGFT), Government of India, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu/Kashmir, Chairman, Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of textiles, Government of India, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of textiles, Government of India, Director General, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), Managing Director, India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), Executive Director, Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), Representative of Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, Managing Director, J&K Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), Excise Commissioner J&K, Commissioner, State Taxes Department J&K, Managing Director, J&K Handloom Handicrafts Development Corporation, Director, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Srinagar Airport, Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu/Kashmir, Director, Geology & Mining.
According to the order, a copy of which lies with Precious Kashmir, Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department. Ex-officio Export Commissioner, J&K has been appointed as Member Secretary of the Board.
The other members of the group include Director, Handicrafts & Handloom, Jammu/Kashmir, Director, Agriculture, Jammu/Kashmir, Director, Horticulture, Jammu/Kashmir, Director, Floriculture, Jammu/Kashmir, Managing Director, J&K SIDCO, Managing Director, Jammu & Kashmir Industries Limited and Secretary Chief Executive Officer, Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB).
Besides, the government has included nine co-opted members of the group as well, which include President, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industries (KCC&I), President, Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industries (JCCI), President, Federation Chamber of Industries, Kashmir (FCIK), Chairman, Walnut Exporters Association, President, Shawls Exporters Association, Representative of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) J&K Chapter, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, J&K Chapter, President, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), J&K Chapter and any other representative from trade and industry or handicrafts and handloom sector or any eminent exporter as may be co-opted by the chairman.
The board will select and manage the areas to be declared as Export Promotion Hubs in the Union Territory of J&K.
It will also finalize the Export Policy/Strategy formulated by the Apex level Export Promotion Committee constituted vide Government Order No. 677-lK(GAD) of 2020, dated 25.06.2020, the order reads.
The order further stated that the board will decide any matter related to the amendment of any Government regulation to facilitate Ease of Doing Business (EODB), adding that it will undertake measures for taking all principal stakeholders on board connected with the identified export sectors.
Any other matter(s) connected with the promotion of exports which may be referred to it by the Government of Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the order said.
It is further ordered that the Board shall meet at least once in every six (06) months and shall be serviced by the Industries & Commerce Department, it added.
